How To, Plugins, Video Post

What Is The Socialize Plugin?

Looks like we’ve hit a bit of a time warp! The original content for this post has been lost to the digital abyss because the service I used to host the video is no longer live (and, well, I may have totally forgotten I had videos there).

It’s like losing a sock in the dryer, but way less satisfying.

Here’s what it probably said …

I’ve been testing a bunch of social sharing plugins for WordPress lately and couldn’t find one that did what I needed without adding a bunch of unnecessary junk. Most of them either drop every button under the sun into every post or rely on clunky shortcodes and hacks that break layouts. I wanted something cleaner, something that gave me full control over what buttons showed up, where they went, and how they looked.

So I built Socialize, a lightweight plugin that lets you selectively add social bookmarking buttons to your posts. You can choose to insert them inline, or inside a customizable box below your content with a call-to-action asking readers to comment, subscribe, or share. It even adds a settings panel directly to the post editor so you don’t have to deal with meta keys or hand-coding anything. You pick the services, set the order, and you’re done.
